British chemicals (titanium dioxide) maker Venator Materials PIc (VNTR.N) said in a court filing late Sunday that it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States. Venator has estimated assets and liabilities between $1 billion and $10 billion, according to a filing in federal bankruptcy court for the Southern District of Texas. Earlier this year, Venator undertook a strategic review of its business in an attempt to strengthen its liquidity after one of its main investors, J&T MS 1SICAV, criticized the British company for its poor financial performance.
